Sandra Izbasa – victory at the Arthur Gander Memorial 2008
The Olympic floor champion from Beijing, Sandra Izbasa, won without any problems yesterday at the Arthur Gander Memorial. Sandra competed without major mistakes and, even if the difficulty of her exercises was bellow the one shown at the Olympics, she managed to win the gold medal, surpassing Oksana Chusovitina and He Ning from China. Moreover, Sandra obtained the highest score of the whole competition – 15.200 at the event which brought her the Olympic gold.
Overall the competition had a good difficulty level, although there were many falls, including the injury of the gymnast from Belarus, Natassia Marachkouskaya. Her injury was due to a bad landing at the end of the first pass on floor and afterwards she had to retire from the competition.

Hambüchen was followed by Jordan Jotchev from Bulgaria and Maxim Deviatovski from Russia. Flavius Koczi, representing Romania, finished fourth, after having missing the landing from the parallel bars, by touching the floor with his hand.
