Match Romania-France-Germany

The Romanian Team of women gymnastics finished 1st after the meet in Germany with the French and German teams. Without the leaders Sandra Izbasa and Steliana Nistor, the six gymnasts (Andreea Acatrinei, Andreea Grigore, Gabriela Dragoi, Daniela Druncea, Anamaria Tamarjan and Madalina Gutu) managed to sum up 231.25 points. Germany came 2nd with 230.15 points, and France 3rd – 225.80.

Romania’s best scores were on balance beam (60.15p) and on floor (58.75p). On the all around, Gabriela Dragoi placed 2nd (58.50p) and Andreea Acatrinei 3rd (57.85p). Romania had only three scores above 15.00p: Acatrinei on both beam (15.100) and floor (15.250) and Dragoi on beam (15.400).  This meeting was also usefull as one of the top Romanian gymnasts, Anamaria Tamarjan, was able to compete after a period of pause due to an injury. Cerasela Patrascu also competed on bars and beam outside the competition, with simple dismounts.

On the other hand, these results could help Nicolae Forminte, the headcoach of the Romanians, definitivate the olympic squad. For the moment, the locks are Izbasa and Nistor.
