Marian Dragulescu – Prosport interview

- Marian, what made you come back?
I feel that I can go on without any special effort, it just comes by itself. I miss the gym, the competitions, but I can say that there were also personal reasons that stayed behind this decision. Moreover, I am an ambitious guy!
- You announced your retirement because of health problems. Have you solved them?
No, those don’t go away that easy. I don`t feel pain anymore, but on the other hand the last MRI that I made was a while ago. I hope that everything will be ok.
- Don’t you think the remaining time until the Worlds is too short?
There are still four months to go and, taking into account the fact that I had been lightly training in the gym lately, I am not really starting from scratch; I think there is enough time. Moreover, I have competed twice in Germany, in Bundesliga, on both floor and vault, so I cannot say that I have not stayed in touch with training at all.
- What is your goal for this competitiom?
It is what everybody wants – a medal. From the three events I am training on I hope to get on the podium at least once.
- Tuesday was your first official training session. How did you feel?
I began easily. I had a talk with the technical staff and we made a plan, I will begin my comeback step by step, without forcing, with the aim to peak at Worlds.
- You are now decided to train on three events: floor, vault and high-bar. Why training on high-bar?
I have discussed this with the coaches and I realized that I can also have some results on this event. I already planned the routines for all three events, I know the D-scores, I know everything.
