Pascu: “It can be better”
The first day of the Romanian Internationals has been practically dominated by the Romanian gymnasts. The National MAG team head coach, Nicusor Pascu, has spoken to Prosport about the objectives the gymnasts have for the competition in Ploiesti.
What’s your conclusion after the first day?
I can say I am satisfied, that they have shown good routines, especially Koczi, who won [n. the AA]. Although he didn’t do the dismount on the high bar and he fell on the dismount on parallel bars, he worked without mistake on the other events. If we look at the others, the younger gymnasts, they did well, and this really pleases me.
Did Koczi have an objective for this competition?
For him, I was interested especially in the pommel horse and vault. These are the events where he has chances for finals and even for winning medals at the Worlds. I hope he will do his job well also on Sunday, during the event finals. For him the competition is a check for the University Games and for the Worlds in London.
Buidoso has surprised with his high bar routine…
I am happy for his result, I liked how he performed. I was right behind the jury table and I shouted at him to focus, and then he would have a clean routine. With him we need to work a bit more on the pommel horse, one of his good events, but where he unfortunately has fallen today. Buidoso is also training for the University Games.
Are you satisfied with how the training is going at this moment?
It can always be better than it is. I am not very satisfied, but I am somewhere above the satisfaction level.
