The best news from last week
Reports, TV shows and competitions finished with gold medals for our gymnasts. This is how I would describe in a few words the end of last week.
- Friday, TVR made us a pleasant surprise through a TV report taken from the Izvorani training centre. We were able to see the fact that our gymnasts have started training hard straight after the World Championships from Rotterdam, and the result of their hard work wasn’t late to be shown all around the world. Double Tsukahara, layout Tsukahara, three and a half twists or the Amanar…..these are just a few of the elements the Romanian team is preparing for 2011,and, of course, the Olympic Games in 2012
- After having won 5 medals at last week’s Junior National Championships, Irina Paun made her debut in international competitions at the Marsilia Cup, and her presence wasn’t missed! Irina completed an excellent routine on beam, from a difficulty point of view and an execution point of view also. We couldn’t avoid spotting her sheep jump and her landing, two elements beautifully executed. Well done Irina!
- At the Stuttgart World Cup, our representative, Marius Berbecar, took on the challenge in the vault finals, which he won, beating the favorites, the Dutch Jeffrey Wammes and the Ukrainian Andrei Isayev. The memebers of the national men’s gymnastics team (Berbecar, Buidoso, Cotuna and Bataga) will compete at Glasgow World Cup, where we wish them to have a great competition.
- The Romanian medal factory has changed its location, and the inauguration was celebrated 3 weeks ago in honour with the 2 medals won at the World Championships in Rotterdam. DigiSport payed the gymnasts a visit at Izvorani where they talked about the current situation in women’s gymnastics and the plans for the future. I recommend you watch this TV show and thanks to our friend Amalia, we also recorded it for you (the first, second and third part). An english summary of this show you can read on Bea`s blog.
