Dana Druncea, member of the Romanian gymnastics Olympic team, retired. “An analysis was made and the conclusion was that there was no rate of progress, and what she had already learned is not enough for fighting for a medal. As in Romania just participating is not an option, but only winning, she decided to give up. Moreover, this year there is no team competition, while next year the new seniors would have much bigger chances to make the team, this being another reason for her decision. It was a mature decision, taken together with her family”, declared the head-coach Nicolae Forminte.

Druncea, member of the Romanian team which was winning the bronze medal during the Worlds in Stuttgart, coming from C.S.S.3 Steaua Bucharest, is the third gymnast which leaves Deva after the Olympics. Immediately after Beijing Steliana Nistor retired, followed, a few months later, by Andreea Acatrinei, both of them because of health problems.
