The Universiade 2009: Flavius Koczi – gold on vault
European vice-champion, champion of the Romanian Internationals this year and Olympic finalist on vault, Flavius Koczi became during the last week-end the Universitary champion on the same event at the Universiade in Belgrad.
The main interest these days has been focused on the Korean gymnast RI Se Gwang, who has a new vault in work:double tsukahara with 1/1 twist. Despite this, our gymnast presented two difficult vaults (difficulty of 7.00 pts. each). Moreover, Flavius had a very good execution and, as a result, he won the gold medal on this event with an average of 16.187 pts. (16.275 pts. on the first vault and 16.100 on the second).
Flavius also won the bronze medal on bars, with a final score of 14.575 pts.
Other results of the Romanians:
- Flavius Koczi: 6th place on pommel horse (14.375 pts.);
- Marius Berbecar: 5th on vault (15.725 pts.); 7th on bars (13.575 pts.).
