News from Romanian gymnastics (January 1-10)

This year has just started and there are already lots of changes announced at the two national Romanian teams. Firstly we found out that two gymnasts, Madalina Gutu si Andreea Palade, have been excluded from the national team and sent back to their home gyms because they could not keep up with the training rhythm in Deva. Secondly, Nicusor Pascu has officialy started as a the coach of the MAG national team, team which has been, for the last 24 years, led by Dan Grecu.

From Prosport we found out that the first competitions this year that our gymnasts are going to participate in are American Cup in Chicago, on 21st February (Anamaria Tamarjan) and the competition organized by Nadia Comaneci in Oklahoma (Sandra Izbasa, Daniela Druncea and Andreea Grigore).

Marian Dragulescu has officially announced his retirement and in the future he is going to coach, together with Marius Urzica, the kids at Dinamo Bucharest and he wishes to discover gymnasts with potential, future champions for Romania.

Also Prosport tells us a little bit about the life of Lavinia Milosovici, three months after the tragedy she’s been through. She is still very sad about what happened and she says she misses Denisa very much and that she hopes that, with the time passing, her wounds would heal a bit.  She constantly receives phonecalls from friends and from her former colleagues, making her feel less lonely.

In a short reportage produced by Antena 1 TV channel, the national WAG team coach, Nicolae Forminte, talks about the changes in the code of points, saying that these changes don’t seem to be in our advantage, occuring especially at the events that we are generally good at: beam and floor.
